Devil's Bridge & Waterfall | Adventure Day Tour From Plovdiv
If you love adventures, then this hike is just the right one for you! Labeled the most extreme eco-trail (hiking trail) in Bulgaria, Devil's Bridge and Waterfall is sure to raise your adrenaline levels.
Located high in the Rhodope Mountains, some 100 km away from Plovdiv, the trail follows a river canyon deeply carved in the rocks.
As you make your way through the 3.8 km long trail (approx. 2.4 miles), crossing wooden bridges and staircases you witness a convergence of unique natural compositions – rock formations, waterfalls, water cascades and rock wreaths all set in stunning natural beauty. Devil's Bridge natural rock formation is the main attraction along the trail.
The Devil's Bridge is a rock arch that has been carved for millions of years by the waters of the Chata River. The height of the bridge is 18 meters from the ground to the arch, and a wooden path secured high above the river allows visitors to pass right under the bridge and marvel at the breathtaking gorge.
The highest point of the trail is 1356 m asl., and the lowest 945 m asl. Slopes are mainly at 20-40 degrees and at the rock wreaths the slope is over 70 degrees. The hard earned view from the top is incredible, and the fact that not that many people opt to hike to it, makes it even more rewarding :).
Eagle's Eye (Orlovo Oko) Panoramic View Point, Yagodina Cave, Haramiiska Cave & Devil's Throat Cave are all located nearby.

Thunderous waterfalls through the canyon, and wooden paths on cliff faces - wow! I loved this hike, and had no idea there was so much power and beauty hidden in the Bulgarian mountains. Irina was a great guide who took great care of us (she even patiently put one of us at ease who was a bit nervous about heights...okay it was me), and her passion for the Rhodope mountains and getting people out in nature shines through at every viewpoint along the way.
